So Much to Do

So much has happened in just one short week. Last Wednesday I was starting to get very nervous because I had not found an internship for the summer yet. And just when I thought it wasn't going to happen I got an email from one of my professors. An unpaid job opening at the UN. Jumped on it, and two hours later was an unpaid copy editor! This is the UN, I thought it would be harder to get in.

Then Monday morning I get a call from my dream company. They want to interview me for their internship program. The job would be researching female peace makers in the Middle East and promoting interreligious understanding among them. Can we say perfect?

And then there was my dreaded end of the year evaluation for my graduate assistantship. All of the bogus complaints I was expecting were there. Seems my co-worker has been busy bad-mouthing most of the team. I asked for specific clarification and pointed out all of the documentation that could be found to show my performance had been nothing short of responsible and above what was expected of me. My boss thankfully felt that his observations of me were nothing less and stated that that would be the basis for my evaluation. We talked about next year and it appears they are going to make the graduate assistantship more unrealistic than before. I told him I really didn't want to commit to something I didn't think I could do to the best of my ability and he said he wouldn't want to ask me to compromise my priorities. It was a mutual understanding and I will not be returning to the position in the fall. The good news: my boss encouraged me to ask him for a recommendation whenever I need one as he felt I did an excellent job and contributed important things to the team this year.

Whew! Faced the bogus accusations once again and this time I did not back down and had documentation showing otherwise. That's one giant leap for my confidence.
